His instrument was designed to curl around the arm of a player, while being supported by a stick resting on the arm. It was not easy to play it and walk at the same time. It was making the walk very fast and heavy, and thus joining the marching band was not the best idea. It also did not work for him to become a part of an orchestral team, because he had to walk when playing his instrument. We never fully know the real limitations and drawbacks of the passion we choose to follow.
