A. Ursyn Orchestra / Animal Trainer Haraut
Previous Home Next

It was not the case to just have an animal do the trick, but to become at ease in front of the crowd. Sometimes the prince would enter the stage on a white horse and sometimes the dog was expected to bark when someone would knock on the door, but those animals needed to be prepared at the last moment, and they needed to be raised in a certain way, and it was not an easy task. Sometimes the audience knew the story so well, they’d expect a certain breed to be presented, exactly how it was presented in a book. Some animals would be taken from a dog day-care, or from people with a special persuasive power. One dog was exceptional: she could do anything; she belonged to the Psychology teacher, who used to take her every day to the classroom, to teach kids about reflexes. Sometimes Haraut would rent animals from a local zoo, or a traveling circus. Other times, he would bring one of his own animals, he had found or adopted, which included: albatross, baboon, Betta fish, chameleon, donkey, elephant, flamingo, gorilla, hamster, iguana, jaguar, kangaroo, leopard, mink, narwhal, opossum, penguin, raccoon, stork, turkey, urchin, whale, xedghock, yak or zebra. Haraut lived on a farm, you know.
