A. Ursyn Orchestra / Choreographer Mo

When Mo moved her hand, everyone understood. She had patience, persistence, and sense of rhythm no one could match. She videotaped each practice so everyone could see their own ups and downs and could discuss them later. In her house, one room was totally covered with mirrors for her own practice. Mo liked to experiment. Her creations were either inspired by particular musical composition, or by simple daily events, sometimes-even conversations. One day she learned about an important gathering of various specialists aimed to establish the origins of man and to unify the ways of measuring time. She gave some thought to imagine the origin of the dance. To her own amusement, a thought of a person trying to catch a mosquito appeared in a visual form. Maybe someone was performing it with a grace and was noted by another person, she thought. Sometimes, finding the beginnings may not be an easy task and may require some effort. Her new creation was based on her studies, research, observation, and videotaping. Following some movement analysis, she transformed it into a story based on the song “Ne me moleste mosquito.” The dancers were amazed, especially when the ballet production won a major award for its artistic merit and innovative approach. Sometimes even dangerous, or even deadly creatures can be inspiring through interactive behaviors.
