In Art, composition is the way in which the objects within the piece of art are arranged. When Art has good composition, it is more visually appealing. Empty space in an art composition can either be a good thing or a bad thing. In photography for example: when cropping an image to fit the picture plane, there is no need for open space. However, when photographing something such as landscape, a good composition would contain the right amount of space above and below the horizon. Space in Art allows for visual thinking and questioning.
In Music a composition is a piece of music, with lines of notes. These notes vary from below the staff to above the staff. A good composition of music is one that has rhythm and one where all of the notes work together musically. What gives a good composition rhythm is the time, or tempo, in the musical piece. Each note is played at the tempo arranged, and throughout the piece the tempo can change; creating an even more interesting composition.
