The Queen Amalita had announced her visit. Everyone in the city was aware of her deep interest in music. The Orchestra members had to face serious preparations for a special performance. Director Gerlost held several conferences with Stage Designers Jons, Designer Kathy and his accountant Adrian. Everyone agreed the performance should be held in a well-designed medieval scenario.

All was medieval that night, including the dinner, prepared by the Opera Chiefs, Frank, Bob and Marcel, with keen cooperation of the Nuritionists, Florian and Fabian They served an omelet with Italian flavored olives.

Everyone was to wear armor or some battle related artifacts (move the cursor over the image and click to enlarge) Some musicians refused to play in a costume that was heavy and not really meant for performing music. "Think of a battle as some sort of a performance", Gerlost kept saying, but only some volunteers agreed to it. For Gerlost, selecting the music that would involve just those instruments, matching the volunteers proved to be a challenge. Gerlost had to hire a composer to create music featuring only selected instruments. “In the history of art, some painters choose to limit their palette on purpose,” he began, encouraging the Maestro. It was hard to really like the music, but Queen Amalita complimented the group for a truly contemporary evening. "Quite abstract," added her Lady in Waiting, still holding a mirror for her Queen.
