Akio Yamanaka "Three States of Water"
This video is a metaphor for where I am, currently, in my career as a graduate
student. What I am learning is that, what is more important than getting a
good grade or knowing all the answers is our ability to wonder and to constantly
be inquisitive about the world around us. Even the little day-to-day things
that we overlook, like the process of ice turning into water, can be beautiful
- only if we take a minute to appreciate the small transformations. This video
was created using time-lapse photography. The opening shot of the apartment
complex consisted of 48 photographs, one taken every half an hour for 24 hours.
The photo of the ice was taken every minute for a duration of four hours. The
still photos were synthesized into video using iMovie.
